We at Orange Field consider ourselves extremely privileged to be associated with the popular beverage, “Tea” for well over 6 decades. Rich in health benefits, research conducted world over has proved Ceylon tea has the least pesticide residue levels maintaining pronounced antioxidant properties. As a family business concern, we derive immense satisfaction and abiding happiness in integrating ourselves with a wide cross section of local community in conducting the day to day activities of the establishment.

Orange Field which began operations in 1950 with very basic infrastructure, today stands tall with state of the art facilities for orthodox Tea processing.  Its production capacity has increased from 1500 Kgs of green leaf per day to 15000 Kgs per day with no sacrifice to quality at the expense of quantity.  Our aim is to further consolidate this position by joining hands with our partners in progress namely our employees and our 750 leaf supplies  by providing them far reaching extension programs, with the accent on human resource value. Furthermore corporate social responsibility is given top priority in all its welfare activities.

A good majority of our employees have served our organisation for more than 20 years and continue to give of their best. Another notable feature is that Orange Field doesn’t own a plantation while surviving solely on leaf supplied by local small holders and farmers. It has grown from strength to strength in terms of product quality, occupying a top slot in the list of manufactures in the western medium elevation category. The ever increasing leaf suppliers base too has displayed unswerving loyalty in continuing to supply quality leaf. These factors have greatly encouraged us to further strengthen our fair play and welfare policies.

Orange Field has a remarkable history spanning a period of more than 60 years during which time it has grown from strength to strength. Located in a rural setting it  has catered to the needs of the local tea small holders who number more than 750. In short it has grown with its stake holders from an average bought leaf tea factory to a bench mark establishment. It has taken giant strides in meeting the aspirations of its leaf suppliers by introducing the “Randalu Scheme” (Golden leaf scheme) whereby the quality leaf supplier is recognised and rewarded. Further more workers welfare activities take pride of place in its day to day events. Corporate social responsibility is another area which is gaining momentum day by day at Orange Field. Expert advice where necessary is sought from reliable sources to achieve our set goals. Our aim is to further consolidate the above mentioned areas in a well planned manner to be sought as the best factory producing quality teas in the western medium elevation category.

The management strongly feels that for any organisation to continue to excel and  thrive the basic concept has to be “ We belong to the organisation”. This concept has to take firm root and all efforts to make it a reality will be pursued genuinely and emphatically. As the managing director of Orange Field what is uppermost in my mind is to subject all the afore said processes and activities to continuous improvement so as to ensure the socio economic well-being of all the players in the industry, who are spread throughout the hills and plains of the region and especially those who are at the grass root level.
